Kay parent 2010

In Memoriam

It is with deep sorrow that we note the passing of Kay Parent on Jan. 14, 2013, after a long battle with breast cancer. Kay was a dear colleague, friend, and member of the Breast Cancer Task Force since 2007. Kay worked on numerous BCTF initiatives and served as the BCTF Chair in 2010. As a nurse, Kay worked in the public health arena for over 30 years, retiring from Wright State University’s Center for Healthy Communities in 2008 where she was the Director of Health Promotion for nine years. Prior to that time, she worked for the Allen County Health Department. in Lima, Ohio. Kay was a passionate advocate of preventative health and in October 2012 was honored for her lifetime of work as the recipient of the Community Leader Award from the Ohio State University’s College of Public Health. Kay is survived by her husband John, two children, and five grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by the BCTF and all who knew her!
